The first public meeting of the “MiSalVi MiSalVi Gestione dei funghi micorrizici e salute del suolo nei vigneti (Management of Mycorrhizal Fungi and Soil Health in Vineyards) project, funded by the Rural Development Plan 2014-2022 of the Tuscany Region, took place on Monday, February 19th in Pistoia.

During the initial part of the event, scientific partners (FoodMicroTeam, DAGRI Department of Agricultural, Food, Environmental and Forestry Sciences at UNIFI, and Department of Agricultural, Food and Agro-environmental Sciences (DISAAA-a) at the University of Pisa) presented the project’s initial results. Subsequently, a tasting session featuring the first wines obtained from the experimentation was organized to identify their sensory aspects.

The MiSalVi project aims to verify the effectiveness of a strategy involving the injection of mycorrhizal fungi in vineyards combined with inter-row cover crop seeding, to reduce the use of synthetic fertilizers while simultaneously enhancing vine performance and the quality of grapes and wine. D.R.E.Am. Italia is part of the partnership and, in addition to project coordination and reporting, is responsible for disseminating the project’s results.
