The personnel of the Forest Fire Fighting and Civil Protection department participated in a training trip to California to deepen their knowledge of forest management and applied meteorology to wildfires, and to discover virtuous and effective best practices.
Mt. Madonna County Park in Watsonville, the Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center in San Jose, are some of the stops on the trip that saw our professionals engaging with authoritative figures, discovering the future of wildfire management, and visiting large-scale emergency scenarios, such as the 2018 Camp Fire (62,000 hectares involved, over 18,000 buildings burned, and 85 deaths) and the 2020 North Complex Fire (130,000 hectares involved, over 2,300 buildings burned, and 15 deaths).
This significant opportunity for growth will lead our professionals to face new challenges with more determination and competence.
